Katy Maggard
Math and ACE Teacher
Katy Maggard has been an educator for 21 years, including the past year at Sperry Public Schools. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Tulsa. Her teaching experience includes Tulsa Public Schools, Owasso Mid-High, Nowata Public Schools, and Sperry Public Schools.
What she enjoys most about teaching is building connections with her students. Ms. Maggard wants her students to know that it is okay to make mistakes because mistakes are an important part of learning. She hopes her students leave her classroom understanding that hard work pays off and that learning can be fun.
Ms. Maggard believes students should be encouraged to keep trying and never give up. She allows students opportunities to correct their mistakes and learn from them, creating a classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and continuing to grow.
Outside of school, Ms. Maggard enjoys spending time with her family. Her favorite thing about Sperry Public Schools and the community is the outstanding support shown by both the school and the community. She appreciates that everyone wants the best for Sperry's students. A fun fact about Ms. Maggard is that after college, she backpacked across Europe for several weeks.
