Jackie Barnett
English, Psychology, and ACE Teacher
Jackie Barnett has been part of education for 35 years, all of which have been at Sperry Public Schools. She teaches 9th grade English and 12th grade Psychology. Ms. Barnett earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degree in School Administration from Northeastern State University. She also taught driver’s education for three summers at Owasso Public Schools.
What Ms. Barnett enjoys most about teaching is having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of her students. She wants her students to know that she genuinely cares about them and wants them to have a successful future. She hopes students leave her classroom knowing that they matter, developing a love for reading, and understanding that choices have consequences.
Ms. Barnett believes one of the most meaningful aspects of her teaching is her ability to connect with her students. She works to build relationships based on trust so that students know she cares about them and their success.
Outside of school, Ms. Barnett enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and gardening. One of her favorite things about Sperry Public Schools is the relationships she has built throughout her many years in the district. A fun fact about Ms. Barnett is that, despite spending her career surrounded by students and people, she is a total introvert!
