Dawn Williams
1st–5th Grade Title I Math Teacher
Dawn Williams has been part of education for 21 years, including 14 years at Sperry Public Schools. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University and began her career with seven years at Kendall-Whittier in Tulsa Public Schools.
What she enjoys most about teaching is interacting with students throughout the day and seeing the moment when they finally understand a math concept and experience success. Mrs. Williams wants her students to know that it is okay to make mistakes because mistakes are how we learn—even teachers make mistakes!
Mrs. Williams believes math should be hands-on and interactive and that learning math is about much more than completing a worksheet. She hopes her students leave her classroom thinking, “Math is fun!”
Outside of school, Mrs. Williams enjoys coaching cheerleading and supporting her children's many activities. Her son, Ryker, plays football, wrestles, and plays baseball, while her daughter, Presley, cheers, plays softball, wrestles, and runs track. The family spends much of their time at gyms and sporting fields, but they also enjoy gardening, traveling, and spending time outdoors together. Her favorite thing about Sperry is the strong community support for students, families, and the school system. Both she and her husband grew up in Sperry Schools, making them a proud Pirate family.
