Kristy Hutton
Fifth Grade Reading/ELA Teacher
Kristy Hutton has been an educator for 25 years, including the past nine years at Sperry Public Schools. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Tulsa and also completed a fellowship at Yale University. Her teaching experience includes 13 years at Thoreau Demonstration Academy in Tulsa Public Schools and three years at Country Lane Intermediate in Broken Arrow Public Schools.
What she enjoys most about teaching is that every day is different. Mrs. Hutton especially loves seeing the “lightbulb moments” when students finally understand a concept. She wants her students to know that she was once just like them and encourages them to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning together.
Mrs. Hutton hopes to inspire her students to develop a lifelong love for reading. She brings books to life in her classroom by being loud and dramatic when reading, giving characters their own energy and personality, and helping students experience the stories in a new way.
Outside of school, Mrs. Hutton enjoys attending sporting events, visiting thrift stores, and exploring new places. She grew up in Sperry and attended Sperry Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. Her favorite thing about Sperry is the close-knit, hometown feeling and the strong sense of community.
