Your Opinion Matters: Help Choose the 2025-2026 Calendar
Sperry School Community Members,
In September, a range of stakeholders responded to the school’s general survey to establish key elements of the district calendar. Based on the survey results, the proposed calendars for the 2025-2026 school year were developed.
There are only two key differences between the calendars.
FIRST--
- Option 1 has the district’s “traditional” opening: three professional development days, with Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the second week of August for professional development and that Thursday as the first day of classes.
- Option 2, on the other hand, has the first day of professional development on the Friday of the first week of August and the following Monday and Tuesday. The first day of classes is on that Wednesday.
SECOND—
- Option 1 has a two-day fall break of a Friday and the following Monday (giving four consecutive days out of school). This is the pattern that has been preferred by stakeholders for several years now, but on this year’s calendar development survey, only 31% of the respondents preferred this set up.
- Option 2 combines the preference of 40% of the respondents who want a three-day fall break with that of the 31% who want a Friday-Monday fall break and the 26% who preferred a Thursday-Friday fall break. This option has a Thursday, Friday, and following Monday fall break.
