Approved Digital Communication Platforms

Dear Parents and Guardians:

I am writing to provide you with information about the district’s response to HB 3958, which requires school personnel engaging in electronic or digital communication with an individual student to include the student’s parent or guardian in the electronic or digital communications.

The Board of Education approved a new policy in June to comply with provisions of HB 3958.

Since that time, District leaders have explored options for digital communications with individual students including text messaging that allows for the application/communication to be monitored and shared with parents.  Several digital platforms have been identified that support effective communications with students and parents covering general school issues, academic matters, and extracurricular activities.

As a result, the District’s approved digital communication platforms are 1) Google Workspace, which includes school email, 2) Remind, and 3) sportsYou.

For the 2024-2025 school year, District employees, including all classroom teachers and extracurricular coaches/sponsors, will begin using and/or continue using one or more of these approved platforms for digital communications with students and parents.

Please contact your site principal if you have specific questions regarding this matter.

We look forward to another great year and thank you for your attention to this information.

Respectfully,

Brian Beagles, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
