Know Before You Go: 2024-2025 Spectator Guidelines for Athletic Events

Athletic Safety Protocols/Spectator Guidelines

 

Sperry Public School is committed to maintaining a secure environment to ensure the safety of students, visitors, and staff.  More specifically, we will have security personnel, school administrators, and multiple staff members at varsity football games, and the following spectator guidelines will be implemented for all athletic events effective September 6, 2024.

 

  • Students in 8th grade or below must be accompanied by an adult to enter athletic events, and the parent or guardian must be present for the duration of the event.  Students in 8th grade or below who are dropped off at an event without an adult present will not be permitted to enter.
  • Students and other school-age spectators will not be allowed to enter with any type of bag, other than small clutch bags with or without a handle or strap that do not exceed 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand).  
  • Prohibited bags for students and other school-aged spectators include, but are not limited to, purses larger than a clutch bag, briefcases, backpacks, cinch bags, fanny packs that exceed the size restriction, luggage of any kind, computer bags/cases, camera bags/cases, binocular bags/cases, or any bag larger than the permissible size.
  • All items carried in are subject to search.
  • Medically necessary items will be allowed in after inspection.
  • All students must remain on the side of the arena, stadium, or field designated for their school’s fan base.
  • Seating on the south end of the home football bleachers (West Side) is allocated for the Sperry High School Band and Sperry students.  
  • Seating on the north end of the visitors’ football bleachers (East Side) is allocated for the visiting band and students.
  • Elementary/middle school students may sit in the student section; however, they will be required to sit with their parent/guardian if they are found to be loitering or running about the venue.
  • RE-ENTRY for students and other school-aged spectators will NOT be allowed.  Once you leave the event, you will not be allowed to re-enter.
  • Ticket sales for football games will end during the third-quarter and no additional spectators will be allowed to enter the stadium after that time.  
  • No loitering will be allowed in school parking lots or on school property.
  • Field access will be restricted to teams, coaching staff, officials, administrators, and those with sideline passes authorized by Sperry Public Schools.
  • The track, softball field, areas under the bleachers, and behind the multisport building are off limits.
  • Any behaviors deemed unsafe, unruly, or unsportsmanlike may result in removal from the event.
  • All spectators are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship before, during, and after the event. 
  • Anyone exhibiting unruly behavior or who refuses to comply with these guidelines will be removed from the event and may be prohibited from attending future events.

The items listed below are prohibited:

  • Student bags/backpacks as outlined above,
  • Outside coolers and/or ice chests,
  • Laser pointers,
  • Pets/animals other than registered service animals,
  • Outside balls, inflatables, and/or other sports equipment/items,
  • Noisemakers/speakers of any type, such as electronic noise makers, air horns, and/or Bluetooth speakers,
  • Mace and all forms of personal protective spray, All forms of alcohol, tobacco, and vapes, and
  • All forms of weapons/firearms.

 

We understand these guidelines may be inconvenient; nevertheless, we thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding as we work to make Sperry athletic events as safe and secure as possible.
