Kailey Payeton
Band Director
Kailey Payeton is beginning her teaching career at Sperry Public Schools, where she directs the 4th–12th grade General Music, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Marching Band programs. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Oklahoma State University. Her experience includes student teaching with Owasso Public Schools and volunteering at Edison Preparatory High School.
What she enjoys most about teaching is Saturday marching band contests and seeing students grow as musicians. Ms. Payeton wants her students to know that it is never too late to join band. She joined band later herself and discovered a passion for making music and performing for others.
One of her favorite parts of teaching is working with such a wide range of ages and watching students progress from learning the fundamentals in fifth grade to performing with the high school band. She enjoys seeing where students begin and the growth they make throughout their time in the program.
Outside of school, Ms. Payeton enjoys caving and is currently learning Portuguese. She appreciates how supportive the Sperry community is of its students and their activities.
